Morris Darey is the owner of "The Place Catering", a catering service that provides kosher meals and catering services in San Diego. He started the business with a focus on providing high-quality, kosher-certified cuisine for various events, including weddings, bar mitzvahs, and other special occasions. With a passion for food and a commitment to meeting the dietary needs of his clients, Morris has established The Place Catering as a well-respected and highly sought-after catering service in the area.
Growing up in Israel as an Orthodox Jewish individual, traditional Jewish cuisines were an integral part of Morris’s life. In the late 1990s, he relocated from Boston to San Diego with his spouse and children. While in Boston, he was a proprietor of a Glatt kosher restaurant, and other kosher dining establishments throughout the city. He was surprised to discover that San Diego lacked options for kosher meals or groceries. Determined to address this issue, he endeavored to provide the community of San Diego with exceptional-tasting cuisines that met the most stringent religious standards. Soon after his arrival in San Diego, he established an all Glatt kosher supermarket - over time, this enterprise has evolved into The Place Catering, which caters to diverse events with exceptional kosher cuisine.
Over the years, we've partnered with top hotels like The Manchester Grand Hyatt, Omni La Costa, Hilton Bayfront, Hotel Del Coronado, the San Diego Convention Center, and the San Diego Zoo to offer Glatt kosher meals to tourists. In 2019, we proudly provided over 30,000 meals in five days for the Maccabi Games through the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center.
